CCCW Print Competition Rules

SCOPE
1. Competition is open to both color and black and white prints.
2. Standard prints or computer generated prints are acceptable.
3. Creative, unlimited enhancement to the photographs, either in the computer, during the printing process, or after the prints have been made, are acceptable and encouraged.

COMPETITIONS
1. Competitions will be held on a separate night from slide/digital image Competitions.
2. All prints will be judged as a single group.
3. Medals will be awarded at the annual end of the year dinner; 1 Best Print of the Year and 1 Honorable Mention.

JUDGING
1. Each prints will be evaluated by the judge and scored 1 to 10 points in 1/2 point increments.
2. Judging will be based on overall impression, composition and print quality,
3. Comments may/will be given on the prints entered.
4. The number of awards and honorable mentions will be calculated using the same formula used for the digital image competitions.

PRINTS
1. Up to 3 prints may be entered per competition.
2. Minimum prints size: 8" X 8".
3. Maximum print size: 16" X 20"
4. Maximum mat size: 20" X 24".
5. Nothing should be written on the front of the mat.
6. A label is to be taped or glued on the back, upper left hand corner of the print. The label will show:
  1. Name
  2. Group
  3. Title
  4. Print Number
7. Prints must be on a backing board or matted so that they are free standing.
8. Mat must be a single mat in any color.

RULES
1. The same photograph used in a digital image competition can be used for a print competition, as well as a print being used in a digital image competition. They may be used in the same club year. A print or digital image which has won a ribbon may not be used again in the other category.
2. Rules for reuse of prints are the same as for digital images.
3. Winning prints digital images can never be used again in competition.
4. Non-winning prints can be used again in another competition year.
5. No five year rule.
6. Missed competitions: Only one competition may be made up per club year.
  1. First competition: 2 makeup prints plus 3 regular in second competition; 1 makeup plus 3 regular in third competition.
  2. Second competition: 3 make plus 3 regular entries in third competition.
  3. Third competition: No makeup possible.
